  3. Pannexin-1 (Panx-1) is a membrane protein that form non-selective channels. In the cardiovascular system, Panx-1 is thought to play a physiological role controlling vasomotor
  4. tone and blood pressure. Interestingly, recent evidence shows that prolonged activation of Panx-1-formed channels in the endothelium of resistance arteries in response to the
  5. calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) leads to vascular dysfunction. Notably, the post-translational modifications (PTMs) and the signaling environment that governs the opening of pannexin-1-
  6. formed channels are unknown. Then, my research focuses on: 1) To determine the signaling mechanism that controls the activation of Panx-1 induced by CGRP in endothelial cells,
  7. 2) to assess the structural and functional role of PTMs of panx-1 generated by CGRP and 3) to determine whether CGRP receptor forms signaling microdomains with Panx-1 in endothelial cells.
